Apple now allows patients to connect their electronic health records (EHR) to their iPhone using the Apple Health App. This is made possible by the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) common data standard, for which Apple has established FHIR Models. Leveraging Apple's HealtkKit application programming interfaces (API), when a person connects their EHR to their iPhone, they can also grant third-party applications access to their data.This is an established and secured connection, compliant with HIPAA standards.

WEATHER DATA

Weather data can be obtained through many sources. For example, for our prototype, we were given access to The Weather Company API. Moving forward, we will determine the best weather data source for our purposes. However, there are reliable and free government sources available.Air Quality Index from AirNow
- The AirNow API and datasets are maintained by the EPA, and provides national data which can be used in statistical forecasting and machine learning models. Air Quality Index information is available.Temperature from the National Weather Service
- The National Weather Service API and datasets are maintained by the NOAA. Hourly temperature and relative humidity levels are available.

Machine learning

All data streams are aggregated into our machine learning algorithm, built on Google Colab, and integrated into iOS using Apple's Core ML.

- Patient data from Synthea, OHDSI, or Kaggle. However, will be discussing joining with UCSF or UC Health to obtain de-identified patient data in order to test our machine learning algorithms.
